Description | (The Room PICTURE is down below) When Indy is in Venice/Catacombs, there is a Room with a "Plug" at the sealing. (Indy will put a hook into this "plug" and use his Whip to drain the Water) This Room FLICKERS !! ( it has something to do with the "Blup Blup, Blup" SoundFX ) Music and SoundFx seems general a bit buggy,like Loom. Anyway, this Room FLICKERS on any Amiga i tried and any Language. (If it dosent flicker immediately, let Indy stand there for a few seconds ; this Room will FLICKER) | ||||||||||||

Sorry JOTD, for being so late. The saves are from the german version, so you will get messed up text in other languages, BUT it still works ! Choose the second save and exit, you will see this room will flicker on every hardware and WinUAE setting i have tested it on. Even in older slaves, this room is ... "weird" Would be great if you could do your magic. Fingers cross you can fix this classic. It effects all versions and languages. Greetings and sorry angain for being so late ;) |

@JOTD If you are going to update the slave please can you reduce memory usage to 512kb chip + 256kb fastram? |

Hi JOTD (T_T) Its WAY better with the new modiefied Slave, it flickers sometimes but not as many times as in the past. The really interesting thing is.... IF you use the HOOK with the WOODE PLUG, then use the WHIP the Water will come bursting in and the Flickering is completly gone. ( does the flicker has something to do with the BLupp ... Blupp .. Blupp SoundFX, that Timing is pretty random ... maybe that is connected to the flickering problem...hmmm ) I use the the prototype new indy slave for now. Thank you very much JODT. (a total fix would be still be very welcomed - its a true classic after all) Greetings, Torti |

Hi Again :) I did more testing. There is absolutly no flicker on MIST (ECS and AGA Core) but it seems that now the transisions between screen take longer. Back to that strange room... If i use the Tooltype NOCACHE , Indy will walk slow (nocache) but with a very random tempo through this room. (happend also in older Slaves) Something fishy is going on in this room. Ron Gilbert once said that the SCUMM version in Indy3 was pretty buggy, also with Loom; and they fixed it with The secret of Monkey Island. So i guess, there is some buggy stuff going on there. Loom also has this strange music behaviour like Indy 3. (tempo problems, hick ups, especially if a screen changes to a new one (chip mem activity) Is there any source code available for Indy3 & Loom ? That would be interesting ;) Anyway, sorry i could not be of more help. |

this bug is related to buggy sound replay too. Fixing the sound replay introduces those flickers. The more sfx are playing the more the flickering... |
