Summary0000545: Super Stardust: Ooops -- I gave the wrong config in my previous email...sorry
DescriptionInstall: Super Stardust (Bloodhouse) http:whdload.de/games/SuperStarDust.html
GameVersion: english,pal,5 disks
SlaveVersion: 1.0 from 20.05.2000

Ooops -- I gave the wrong config in my previous email...sorry here it is again.
-------------------
This was actually something that I noticed a long while back (you might remember
all the emails that we sent back and forth--I might have to dig back to find them):
But anyways here are the things I've noticed with my configuration even after all
the things we've tried:
1) The sound at the title Screen (i.e. when it says "Super StarDust") is at first
in sync and then the music becomes out of sync (i.e. some insturments are behind others)
and there are interuptions between "packets" of music as though there might be
some sort of buffer underflow.
2) When in the asteriod playfield the rocks are "blinking" or "move jerky" as they move across the screen.
This seems to the video equivalent of the music problem in (1).
3) Sometimes the install can hang my system--and the only way out is to reboot. Usually, this can happen
when I die and go to the stats page.
Both (1) and (2) I do not notice when I literally downgrade my system. I took my
Amiga completely apart. No hard drive, no Zorro expansion cards, no Phase5 PPC board, no
CyberVissionPPC, no 128MB of memory on processor board, no CD-Rom drives or other SCSi
drives connected,
The only thing I had connected was the floppy and my old 68040 processor board, 16MB of FAST, 2MB of CHIP
(on motherobard) and I booted the game from floppy. I played a couple of levels and
found no distortion in the sound and the asteriods moved smoothly.
I reconnected everthing and loaded up SuperStarDust with WHDload and took a CoreDump
(see below for the registors). I can send the rest of the dump if this might help.
I honestly do not know much about the hardware level but I'm thinking there
is some wrong kind of caching go on with the Amiga's chipset. I tried NoChipCache option
but this didn't change the behavior. Let me know if there are any debug tools
I can try from the Dev. edition of WHDLoad.
Thanks and Regards,
Brian
