Summary0004833: Operation Harrier CD32 joypad control
DescriptionOperation Harrier uses some keys to control game. Maybe it could be remapped to joypad buttons?

[SPACE] - drop bomb
[F1] - select gun/AG rockets/AA homing missiles
[F2] - select 500 lb/1000 lb bomb
[M] - map
[L] - initiate landing
[ESC] - pause

Additionally Fire+Up is dive and Fire+Down is climb, if this could be remapped, at least for pressing other button than fire, would be more comfortable.

Solo Kazuki (reporter)

I forgot that it's also [A] to abort landing.

Maybe someone can add this feature?

Thanks for taking this request!

I was thinking about control, maybe it can be:

RED = Fire (obvious ;) )
BLUE = Drop Bomb [SPACE]
GREEN = [F1]
YELLOW = [F2]
REV+UP/DOWN = Climb/Descent
FFD = [L]/[A] (switching)
PLAY = [M]... or maybe REV+FFD? In this case [PLAY] would be [ESC] (pause)

note ~0010552

Solo Kazuki (reporter)

Or maybe better [L]/[A] = REV+FWD and map just FWD? In this case it's much less risk to start landing by accident.

note ~0010916

StingRay (developer)

The current mapping has been done as follows:

BLUE: Drop Bomb (Space)
GREEN: Switch weapons (F1)
YELLOW: Switch bombs (F2)
PLAY: toggle map screen (M)
PLAY+REVERSE: initiate landing (L)
PLAY+FORWARD: abort landing (A)
REVERSE: climb (Fire+Down)
FORWARD: dive (Fire+Up)

Please test the attached slave, do the CD32 controls work properly?

Solo Kazuki (reporter)

Hello
It's not working. Is any CUSTOMx=y switch is needed?

note ~0010918

StingRay (developer)

The CD32 controls (CUSTOM2) have to be enabled in the splash screen.

note ~0010919

Solo Kazuki (reporter)

There is only BUTTONWAIT and CUSTOM1 on splash screen. CUSTOM2 is not present.

note ~0010920

Solo Kazuki (reporter)

Ok, after adding CUSTOM2=1 to tooltypes, all is working ok.
