Summary0002995: Greetings. I own a registered WHDLoad, but I'm not any good at installing games
DescriptionGameVersion: english,pal,3 disks
SlaveVersion: 1.0 from 04.10.2002

Greetings.
I own a registered WHDLoad, but I'm not any good at installing games via the installer which is downloaded from WHDLOAD website.
That's why I downloaded HeroQuest II: Legacy Of Sorasil from WHDownload as I did with many other games (it's just one click to start the game). Forgive me if I'm reporting in the wrong place, but I did not know what else to do and I'm nearly out of options. Other games work nearly without any problems, but this one insists to bug me.
My problem is, when I try to save or load the game, as soon as I click the respective button, the screen flickers for 2 times (I can see "insert your save disk" text at the bottom) which means accessing the required information from disk and fairly normal according to forums. After the flickering, the game crashes with the following message and returns to workbench (I use classic workbench FULL version btw):
Error in OS Emulation Module
subsystem: dos.library
error number: $FFFFFF9A=-102
with the options Quit, Restart, Make CoreDump
I tried starting the game with many combinations including the tooltypes suggested in the WHDLOAD page. Always the same result.
I also tried with many RAM amounts bu again, the error persists ( my Fate Gates of Dawn game also had flickering while saving the game for the first time with 2 Slow + 4 Fast Memory. Increasing Fastmem to 8 had solved the flickering for that game, so I thought memory insufficiency caused this game's problem, too.)
I tried many configuration combinations in WinUAE, but none f them helped (I welcome any suggestions here).
I can load and play the disk version of the game without problems. But I want to play it via WHDLoad if possible.
Some other games (like FGoD I mentioned above) also flickers while saving for the first time, but they save the game normally and do not crash. After the first time, the game would save without the screen flickering.
So, in my opinion, if I could get this game to save for just one time, I would not get that flickering and therefore the error message again, but I never managed to get past the flickering and that error message.
If you are reading this, it would be greatly appreciated to have a suggestion from a veteran in these issues. If you need any logs or additional info, please let me know (in a way that a newbie can understand, if possible :) ).
Thanks in advance and have a good day..

Excolion (reporter)

By the way, I finally managed to install the game by using original .ipf files and from the installer I downloaded from WHDLoad. Again, while trying to either save or load, the screen flickers 2 times and the game crashes with the same error message I wrote above.

Note that I also started the game directly from the original .ipf file and I could save the game without any error messages (same config in WinUAE). I think this proves that installing the game to HD via WHDLoad Installer causes this error.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Saves must be broken, save probably never worked. Time to update the slave from OSEmu to kickemu.

In my TODO list now
